Aldi has strawberries for $0.49/ lb this week. That sounds like a pretty good deal.
You can freeze fresh strawberries to use them on desserts and smoothies later on.
How to freeze strawberries:
1. Wash berries in cold water and pat dry. Remove stems and leaves with a small, sharp knife. You can either leave them whole or slice them.
2. Place berries on a baking sheet, arranging them close together but not touching each other. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 6 hours. This is called flash freezing.
3. Once the berries are frozen, seal in an airtight container or zippered plastic bag and freeze.
